A FINE RUSSIAN ICON SILVER & ENAMEL OKLAD, MOSCOW 1895. A very fine Russian silver-gilt reppouse, engraved and cloisonné enameled oklad for an icon of Christ as the Lord Almighty (Gospod Vsederzhitel). The gilded silver multi-piece, multi-layered oklad, reppoused and finely engraved overall. The corners, borders and halo rendered in cloisonné enamel. The Gospel text open to John 13:34 and rendered in champleve enamel. The title plaque on lower central margin also rendered in champlevé enamel. The oklad hallmarked Moscow, dated 1895, Cyrillic maker mark CG and 84 silver standard. The hand painted icon of a later period. Would obviously brighten substantially if cleaned. 10.5 inches x 8.75 inches (26.6cm x 22.3cm).
